JOINT RECYCLING COMMITTEE
April 19, 2010
The regular meeting of the Joint Recycling Committee was called to order at 5:48pn in the Albany Village Hall, 205 North Water Street, Albany WI by Chairperson John Grochola. Members present were: Grochola, Peggy Boeck, Rod Sutherland, David Dowden [Ex-Offico], and Fred Baertschi. Absent was: Keith Hobson. Also present was: Jon Runnas.

MINUTES: Motion by Boeck, seconded by Sutherland, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as printed. Carried.
OPERATIONAL:
a) Identify how we can be more efficient at Recycle Center?
a. No ideas brought forward.
b) Concrete
a. Discussed what we needed to accomplish in 2010.
b. It was decided that we would meet at the Recycle Center on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. to measure and diagram exactly what we want to do.
RECYCLE POGRAMS:
a) Update on newspaper articles?
a. No action taken on this point
b) Chemicals/Hazardous Waste:
a. No action taken on this point
c) Wisconsin’s new e-Waste Law
a. Article in newspaper was published.
b. The town of Jefferson is using a service from Madison named “RecyclethatStuff,” they are ISO 14001 certified.
c. Information from their web site was shared with committee members.
d. This may be the answer we are looking for to recycle electronics beginning in September.
e. Was discussed to bring them in twice a year when we do “Spring Acceptance” and “Fall Cleanup” days.
f. What are costs, will ask Laurie to research.
d) Town of Exeter – Recycle Center, Vehicle sticker
a. Information shared.
b. Would allow us to identify Albany village and township residents.
c. The vehicle sticker costs Exeter publish created much discussion with audience
d. We need to determine if residents outside of village and township are using our facilities.
e) Spring Acceptance Day
a. Set for Saturday, May 1, 2010.
b. Medical disposal – set for following weekend, May 8, 2010.
c. Dave made arrangements for labor.
d. Need to have a handout to tell people when this is; some people do not get newspaper or village newsletter. John took this action item.
f) Battery Recycling
a. Out of time to discuss, will ask Laurie to research this further.
ANNOUNCEMENT AND FUTURE AGENA ITEMS:
a) Standardize hours of operation
a. Dave would like to standardize hours, no seasonal fluctuation on Wednesdays
b. Will add to next meeting agenda
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Baertschi, seconded by Boeck, to adjourn. Carried.
