STREET AND UTILITY COMMITTEE
August 2, 2010
The regular meeting of the Street and Utility Committee was called to order by Chairperson Rodney Sutherland at 6:30 p.m. at the Albany Village Hall, 206 North Water Street, Albany, WI. Members present were: Sutherland, John Grochola, Wayne Stemple, Eileen Althaus, and Jon Runaas, Ex-Officio. Absent: Jim Mauerman and Larry Hanson, Ex-Officio.
Proof of posting was verified.
MINUTES: Motion by Grochola, seconded by Sutherland, to approve the minutes of the last meeting as printed. Carried.
ROAD PROJECT UPDATE: The slurry seal project on South Water Street should get started within the next week. The milling and grinding work on Summit Street and Union Street will begin around the third week in August. There will not be any blacktop needed for curb. There will be a blacktop curb added at the corner of East Main Street and South Summit.
TRUCK ROUTE SIGNS – ORDINANCE: This ordinance may need some reviewing by the Plans Commission. Motion by Sutherland, seconded by Grochola, to remove the signs that were recently posted on East Main Street. Carried.
REFERENDUM QUESTIONS: There was much discussion about the updating of our infrastructure and the costs that will be associated with such a project as well as gathering more information in order to educate the community.
PROBLEMS WITH ANTENNA ON SCADA SYSTEM: There are nine pumps in our communication network, with five pump stations. Transducer and CPU to control. Runaas suggested upgrading to digital control units when we update our control system. Any costs would be split between water and sewer.
STATUS OF SEWER UPGRADE: Just received confirmation from the DNR that they received our package and they will be in touch within thirty days.
BRIDGE POWER FOR LIGHTS: No new information. Tabled until September.
WELL #2: Both wells were pulled for inspection. Well #2 had water coming out from the bottom of the well. Maintenance work will need to be done. Runaas will develop an RFP for getting work done.
Well #1 is two years past inspection date. This item was tabled until September.
TRAINING – GILL: Motion by Stemple, seconded by Grochola, to send Lonnie Gill to Rural Water Training Center on August 26, 2010 for a cost of $40. Carried. Motion by Sutherland, seconded by Stemple, to send Lonnie Gill to Basic Tree Prunning on September 23 or 24, 2010 for a cost of $25. Carried.
SEPTEMBER MEETING DATE: Motion by Stemple, seconded by Althaus, to move the September meeting date to Tuesday the 7th at 6:30 p.m. Carried.
ANNOUNCEMENTS & FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
1. State required safety training needs to be done;
2. Problems with contacts on lift station #5, maintenance needed with a cost between $600 - $1200;
3. DNR stated that we are a Low Hazard Dam and will need and inspection in 207 at a cost of around $3700-$3800.
