STREET AND UTILITY COMMITTEE
November 2, 2009
The regular meeting of the Street and Utility Committee was called to order by Chairperson Rodney Sutherland at 6:30 p.m. at the Albany Village Hall, 206 North Water Street, Albany, WI. Members present were: Sutherland, Larry Hanson, Wayne Stemple, and Jon Runaas, Ex-Officio. Absent was: John Grochola, Eileen Althaus and Jim Mauerman. Also present: Lonnie Gill.
Proof of posting was verified.
MINUTES: Motion by Stemple, seconded by Mauerman, to approve the minutes of the last meeting as printed. Carried.
PROCUREMENT OF NEW SAMPLER: New sewer sampler ordered at a cost of $2,538. This amount will come out of the sewer maintenance account. Samples of discharge of sewer water are taken around five (5) times a year.
REVIEW OF 2009 WATER AND SEWER MAINTENANCE ITEMS: Runaas gave an update on the water and sewer costs for 2009; water cost was $53,220 and sewer cost was $54,525.
POSSIBLE ROAD WORK IN 2010—CHIP SEAL: This item was discussed, but no action was taken at this time.
MAPPING STATUS—GIS: The GIS mapping system is up and running. Runaas and Michelle Brewer are working on inputting the information into the computer.
SURVEY/STAKE BOUNDARY OF ACPARD ESTIMATED COST: This item was tabled.
DAN BLUMER TO WRWA & GOVERNMENT TRAINING: Blumer would like to attend the WRWA training in Green Bay, Wisconsin on March 23, 24, 25 at a cost of $450-$550; and a government training seminar in Madison, Wisconsin on February 23 at a cost of $75. Motion by Stemple, seconded by Mauerman, to approve Blumer’s training. Carried.
BRUSH PICK-UP AT CURB: There was a discussion about the Village offering brush pick-up. Motion by Sutherland, seconded by Stemple, to recommend curb brush pick-up. Carried. This will be taken to the Village Board to decide the rules and dates.
DOWNTOWN LIGHTS: This was tabled.
FOX PAY INQUIRY (FOX AND BONDING COMPANY): This was resolved, no action required by the Village.
ANNOUNCEMENTS & FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Sutherland opened this topic to the floor and handicap parking by the restaurants was mentioned, which created a lot of controversy. This item will be looked into by the Chamber of Commerce.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Stemple, seconded by Sutherland, to adjourn. Carried.
