POLICE, FIRE AND LICENSE COMMITTEE
February 23, 2009
The regular meeting of the Police, Fire and License Committee was called to order by John Briggs, Chairperson, at 6:30 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall at 206 N. Water St., Albany, WI. Members present were: Briggs, Peggy Boeck, Gary Kranig, Virginia Detra, Danny Mueller X-O and Robert Levitt X¬-O. Absent was: Steve Hubert. Also present: James Placek, Wendy Detra, Suzanne Bryant, and Jeff Berra.
Proof of posting was verified.
MINUTES: Motion by Boeck, seconded by Kranig, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as printed. Carried.
PUBLIC APPEARANCES: None.
FIRE CHIEF CONCERNS: Nothing.
POLICE CHIEF CONCERNS: Nothing.
OPERATOR’S LICENSES: Motion by Briggs, seconded by Boeck, to approve Ronald Richards, upon completion of responsible server class, and Daniel Williams. Carried.
CHAMBER—2010 TUB RUN: The Chamber was present to discuss the 2010 tub run. After much discussion, motion by Boeck, seconded by Detra, to close the following streets: Oak, Milwaukee, Madison, Mechanic at State, Nichols at Water from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.; also North and South Water from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Carried.
CHAMBER—2010 YESTERYEAR’S WEEKEND: The Chamber was also present to discuss the Yesteryear Weekend. They want to close North Water Street from East Main Street to Oak Street from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on May 28, 2010. On May 29, 2010, close North Water Street from 9:00 a.m. until after the parade. Motion by Boeck, seconded by Briggs, to close streets as requested. Carried.
Motion by Kranig, seconded by Briggs, to have the same amount of police officers on duty with the Village not responsible for paying any wages. Carried.
Motion by Boeck, seconded by Detra, to reduce the number of security officers in the bars from two to one per bar. Carried. Kranig opposed.
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Nothing.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Briggs, seconded by Kranig, to adjourn the meeting. Carried.
