JOINT RECYCLING COMMITTEE
July 19, 2010
The regular meeting of the Joint Recycling Committee was called to order at 5:46 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall, 205 North Water Street, Albany WI by Chairperson John Grochola. Members present were: Grochola, Peggy Boeck, David Dowden [Ex-Offico], Fred Baertschi and Jon Runnas. Absent was: Rodney Sutherland and Keith Hobson.

MINUTES: Motion by Boeck, seconded by Baertschi, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as printed. Carried
OPEN ISSUES:
1) Painting of 4 corner posts
a) Completed.
2) Roof Leak
a) Jon has looked at the problem;
b) Something that the village crew could handle;
c) Follow-up at next meeting.
3) Order replacement bags
a) The village bags are low; township appears to be OK at this moment;
b) The committee discussed the issue; numbers of bags we need to purchase is unknown to committee. Left that to the discretion of the village clerk.
c) Dave sells more large bags than small bags.
d) Motion by Boeck, seconded by Baertschi, to purchase village and township bags at a ratio of 2/3 village to 1/3 township. Motion carried.
4) Audit – financials? Any information to discuss
a) Laurie needs more clarification on what we need.
5) Hours change
a) Discussed change, we cannot add more hours to workload.
b) Motion by Grochola, seconded by Boeck, to standardize Wednesday’s hours beginning on September 1 to be 12:00 p.m. to 5:00pm. Motion carried.
OPERATIONAL:
1) Identify how we can be more efficient at Recycle Center?
a) No ideas brought forward.
RECYCLE POGRAMS:
a) Update on newspaper articles?
a. No action taken on this point.
b) Chemicals / Hazardous Waste:
a. No action taken on this point.
c) Wisconsin’s new e-Waste Law
a. Discussed the need for a newspaper article to inform residents that after 8/15 we will no longer be accepting electronics.
b. Discussed the outside firm “reyclethatstuff” to come down to Albany on 10/23 or 10/30 to pick up electronics from the village.
c. Motion by Boeck, seconded by Baertschi, to have this firm come down on 10/23 to provide pickup of electronics that can no longer go to the landfill.
d) Town of Exeter – Recycle Center, vehicle sticker
a. Waiting on Information.
e) Battery Recycling
a. Waiting on information.
ANNOUNCEMENT AND FUTURE AGENA ITEMS: Nothing.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Boeck, seconded by Baertschi, to adjourn. Carried.
