POLICE, FIRE AND LICENSE COMMITTEE
June 22, 2010
The regular meeting of the Police, Fire and License Committee was called to order by John Briggs, Chairperson, at 6:30 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall at 206 N. Water St., Albany, WI. Members present were: Briggs, Peggy Boeck, Virginia Detra, Danny Mueller X-O and Robert Levitt X¬-O. Absent was: Gary Kranig and Steve Hubert. Also present: Dave & Barb Brugger, Suzanne Bryant, Don Olin, Clayt Sowl, Sanford Moore, Sergeant James Placek, Colleen Brewer, Judge Abe Runaas.
Proof of posting was verified.
MINUTES: Motion by Boeck, seconded by Detra, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as printed. Carried.
PUBLIC APPEARANCES: None.
FIRE CHIEF CONCERNS: Fire Chief Mueller mentioned the EMT day shift will be short as people are being called back to work, so there may be times where the EMS will not be able to have a complete crew for calls.
POLICE CHIEF CONCERNS: None.
OPERATOR’S LICENSES: Motion by Detra, seconded by Boeck, to approve Christine R. Matson and Ashley N. Schultz upon upon completion of responsible server class; and to approve Tiffany A. Masseur, Katherine M. Keeley, and Wendy Waite. Carried.
DISCUSSION ON NEW NO SMOKING LAW: Chief Levitt explained the new no smoking law in the state; smoking is allowed outside the buildings. A question and answers forum was held with this discussion being very appreciated by the public and Levitt.
RECOMMENDATION ON ADOPTION OF NEW ORDINANCE INCORPORATING THE NO SMOKING LAW: Discussion held. Motion by Detra, seconded by Boeck, for the adoption of the new ordinance. Carried.
SNOWMOBILE UPDATE: Debbie Hamele does not want the trail to come through her property, so a new route will have to be discussed at a future meeting.
TRANING FOR SGT. PLACEK: Motion by Detra, seconded by Boeck, to approve training for Placek for August 25-26, 2010. Carried.
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Future items were update on lawns not being mowed.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Briggs, seconded by Boeck, to adjourn the meeting. Carried.
