STREET AND UTILITY COMMITTEE
June 7, 2010
The regular meeting of the Street and Utility Committee was called to order by Chairperson Rodney Sutherland at 6:30 p.m. at the Albany Village Hall, 206 North Water Street, Albany, WI. Members present were: Sutherland, Wayne Stemple, Eileen Althaus, Jim Mauerman, Larry Hanson, Ex-Officio, Jon Runaas, Ex-Officio and Tim Astfalk of Mead & Hunt. Absent: John Grochola.
Proof of posting was verified.
MINUTES: Motion by Stemple, seconded by Grochola, to approve the minutes of the last meeting as printed. Carried.
SLURRY BIDS: Motion by Sutherland, seconded by Stemple, to accept bid of $11,799.00 from Struck & Erwyn for slurry seals on South Water Street. Carried.
SUMMIT STREET BIDS: Motion by Sutherland, seconded by Stemple, to accept bid of $33,080.00 by Green County for Summit Street, and $8,121.00 for Union Street for a total of $41,219.00. Carried.
2011 WELL INSPECTION: Two years have passed since past inspection and it has been beyond 10 years since the well was done in 1999. Work needing to be done will be a total cost of around $6,250.00, materials at $5,000.00 and labor at $1,250.00.
A. Well done in 1999 will cost us $5,500.00 plus $1,800.00 for a total cost around $7,370.00. The cost between these two wells will equal a total of around $14,000.00. This agenda item was tabled.
METER UPDATE: Runaas suggested that we buy an additional 100 meters at $50.00 each for a total of $5,000.00 which will last us ten years. This agenda item was tabled.
2011 ROAD PROJECTS: Some upcoming road projects for 2011 include Mineral Street: 310 feet and 22 feet wide; Another Street: 360 feet x 32 feet = 612 feet x 11 feet; Main Street: 195 feet x 24 feet = 700 feet x 12 feet.
TRAINING: Motion by Sutherland, seconded by Stemple, to send Lonnie Gill to Badger Meter Supply training on June 17, 2010 at a cost of $85.00, and to send Jon Runaas to Dodgeville on DNR Monitoring of Drinking Water class which is free. Carried.
SEWER POND ADDITION UPDATE: Tim Astfalk gave an update on the sewer pond addition and indicated we will need a public hearing on July 6 at 6:30 p.m. regarding the financing of the pond project at a cost around $700,000.00.
DAM INSPECTION REVISION: There are new rules from the DNR. This agenda item was tabled.
JULY MEETING DATE DISCUSSION/RECOMMENDATION: The July meeting date has been scheduled for July 6, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.
ANNOUNCEMENTS & FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Lighting on the bridge will cost between $3,000.00 to $12,000.00 and are currently waiting on a bid from Alliant Energy. This agenda item was tabled.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Sutherland, seconded by Stemple, to adjourn. Carried.
