JOINT RECYCLING COMMITTEE
March 15, 2010
The regular meeting of the Joint Recycling Committee was called to order at 5:47 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall, 205 North Water Street, Albany WI by Chairperson John Grochola. Members present were: Grochola, Peggy Boeck, Rod Sutherland, David Dowden [Ex-Offico, Keith Hobson and Fred Baertschi. Also present was John Briggs.

MINUTES: Motion by Sutherland, seconded by Sutherland, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as printed. Carried
UPDATE ON TASKS THAT WERE SENT TO VILLAGE:
a) Rekey
a. Completed.
OPERATIONAL:
a) Identify how we can be more efficient at Recycle Center
a. No action taken on this point.
b) Concrete
a. Runaas and Dowden measured area; the project will be split into half. In 2010 we would like to pour 30 yards that will take us from the edge of new concrete to gate. In 2011 we want to finish the improvement replacing the concrete under the dumpsters that is estimated at 40 yards.
b. As what happen last year, we will get some workers to clear and prep the area first.
c. 6” pour, wire mesh – we will purchase direct.
d. Discussed that we had some set aside funds for this, Grochola to check on this.
RECYCLE POGRAMS:
a) Update on newspaper articles
a. No action taken on this point.
b) Chemicals/Hazardous Waste
a. What the County and Monroe are doing, waiting for “Clean Sweep.”
c) Wisconsin’s new e-Waste Law
a. Reviewed newspaper article we would like to publish
b. Changes made and will be sent to Laurie
d) Spring Acceptance Day
a. Saturday, May 1st
b. Medical disposal – the committee asked Hobson to contact Angel Kubly to coordinate the effort here. Update – the committee wanted this to happen on 5/1, but the date did not work for Kubly so medical disposal will be the following Saturday on May 8th.
c. No curb side pickup.
d. Newspaper article needs to be written; Grochola to handle.
e. No village/township bags are needed for the first 8 garbage bags to be dumped on Spring Acceptance Day. After 8 bags, the person will need to purchase the appropriate yellow village bags or green township bags.
f. Non Freon item fee schedule will be the same as last time, we will only charge for freon items and tires.
g. Discussed remodeling project waste. No action taken
ANNOUNCEMENT AND FUTURE AGENA ITEMS:
a) Battery Recycling
a. Runnas passed along an article on Call2Recycle program for battery disposal.
b. Flyer distributed.
c. Need more information.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Baertschi, seconded by Boeck, to adjourn. Carried.
