STREET AND UTILITY COMMITTEE
March 1, 2010
The regular meeting of the Street and Utility Committee was called to order by Chairperson Rodney Sutherland at 6:30 p.m. at the Albany Village Hall, 206 North Water Street, Albany, WI. Members present were: Sutherland, Wayne Stemple, John Grochola, Eileen Althaus, Larry Hanson and Jon Runaas, Ex-Officio. Absent was: Jim Mauerman. Also present: Lonnie Gill, Tim Astfalk of Mead and Hunt, Catherine Blakemore and Trudy McClaren.
Proof of posting was verified.
MINUTES: Motion by Grochola, seconded by Sutherland, to approve the minutes of the last meeting as printed. Carried.
DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION REQUEST TO BE HEARD: Blakemore and McClaren discussed the Water Street project which would be a total cost of $950, which includes hand rails of $600 and signs of $35 each. Motion by Stemple, seconded by Grochola, to have the Village pay $300 for hand rails and $35 each for the signs. Carried.
TRAINING – LONNIE GILL/WAUNAKEE: Motion by Sutherland, seconded by Stemple, to send Gill to water school on March 11, 2010, receiving six credits, free of cost. Carried.
2010 STREET MAINTENANCE PROJECTS: There is a total of $65,000 in the street budget. It is estimated at $10,100 to grind and lay back down Summit Street and $13,000 for slurry project on S. Water Street. Both street projects are on the table until Runaas gets more information on actual costs.
UPDATE ON SEWER RETENTION POND AND NEW PHOSPHORUS REGULATIONS: Tim Astfalk’s recommendation is to stay on the current course of action.
STORM WATER UTILITY: Tim Astfalk will get back to the committee on how much it will cost to do the survey. We will also need to do a preliminary ordinance review.
UNIFORM CONTRACT: Current uniform contract with Cintas ends on March 7, 2010. Runaas will get more information about cost before deciding on contract.
ANNOUNCEMENTS & FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Future agenda items include the maintenance on the muffin monster motor and storm utility.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Stemple, seconded by Grochola, to adjourn. Carried.
