POLICE, FIRE AND LICENSE COMMITTEE
March 23, 2009
The regular meeting of the Police, Fire and License Committee was called to order by John Briggs, Chairperson, at 6:30 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall at 206 N. Water St., Albany, WI. Members present were: Briggs, Peggy Boeck, Gary Kranig, Steve Hubert, and Robert Levitt X¬-O. Absent was: Virginia Detra and Danny Mueller X-O. Also present: Larry Hanson, Rodney Sutherland, Robert Ritter, Robert Cook, and Tim & Lisa Keeley.
Proof of posting was verified.
MINUTES: Motion by Boeck, seconded by Hubert, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as printed. Carried.
PUBLIC APPEARANCES: None.
FIRE CHIEF CONCERNS: Fire Chief Mueller was not present; however, Briggs had the minutes from the previous Fire Department meeting. The Fire Department had applied and received a grant, which will go towards the purchase of some new equipment, with a possibility of purchasing a new truck tanker within two years. Also, a new ranger cab will be purchased from the firemen’s fund.
POLICE CHIEF CONCERNS: None.
OPERATOR’S LICENSES: None.
KEELEY PARKING REQUEST: Motion by Boeck, seconded by Kranig, to designate a handicap parking space in front of the Keeley residence on 300 S. East Street. Carried.
LION’S CAR SHOW: There will be no parking signs posted the same as last year from the car wash on Cincinnati and along Briggs drive.
TRUSTEE CONCERNS: Sutherland spoke about some concerns/disturbances within his neighborhood. He also questioned some of the actions of our officers with regards to the potential watching of people leaving the bars and then picking them up; harassing people, and following cars. Much discussion was held about these concerns.
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Boeck wanted to thank Ritter and Levitt for their assistance on a personal matter.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Boeck, seconded by Kranig, to adjourn the meeting. Carried.
