BUILDING, GROUNDS AND CEMETERY COMMITTEE
March 9, 2009
The regular meeting of the Building, Grounds and Cemetery Committee was called to order by Chairperson Peggy Boeck, on March 9, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at the Albany Village Hall, 206 North Water Street, Albany, WI. Members present were: Boeck, Virginia Detra, John Grochola, Bob Atkinson, and Kenneth Frydenlund. Also present: Jon Runaas.
Proof of posting was verified.
MINUTES: Motion by Frydenlund, seconded by Atkinson, to approve the minutes of the last meeting as printed. Carried.
RON SLONIKER’S REQUEST TO BE HEARD (SIZE OF HEADSTONE/BASE): Much discussion was held and it was decided to not deter from the most recently revised Cemetery Rules. Runaas will inform Ron Sloniker of this decision.
VILLAGE HALL ROOF REPAIR: There has been a lot of leakage since the Village Hall and EMS Addition had been joined. Motion by Detra, seconded by Frydenlund, for Runaas to get some bids for fixing the roof of the Village Hall and Fire Department. Carried.
FIX CEMETERY BUILDING: Motion by Frydenlund, seconded by Grochola, for Runaas to fix this building for approximately $250.00 plus wages, to be taken out of the cemetery fund. Carried.
SCOUT HALL BACK TO VILLAGE: Atkinson and Runnas suggested that either the Village Hall or Legion could be offered for a meeting place for the scouts if/when they need a place.
ANNOUNCEMENT AND FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Atkinson questioned the need for a speed bump at the cemetery and Runaas said the water problem has been solved. Atkinson and Grochola are going to look into a brighter light for the flag at the cemetery.
The big pine at the cemetery has lost some branches and will need to be pruned. There is another tree that needs to be cut down as it is leaning too far.
Runnas would like the evergreen bushes at the entrances looked at to see what can be saved and removed.
There was a suggestion about the community service workers cleaning up out at the cemetery.
Motion by Detra, seconded by Grochola, that there will be no part-time help out at cemetery this year. Carried.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Frydenlund, seconded by Atkinson, to adjourn the meeting. Carried.
